Service Description

The Family Accommodation Finder service (FAF) has been established by Cambridge City Council to provide enhanced options for couples and families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

Eligibility

The service accepts referrals from couples and families. (Single people should be referred through existing pathways e.g. Single Homelessness Service). Households should:

Referral Process

To refer, please send an email to townhall.lettings@cambridge.gov.uk with “FAF referral” as the subject heading.

Please provide the client’s name as well as any information that you think is particularly relevant to their case. You do not need to provide anything further at this stage, so long as their Locata record is up to date.

We will contact the client by the end of the working day following the day of referral. (So, if a case is referred at 10am on a Monday, we will contact the client by close of business Tuesday). We will make an initial appointment within five working days of the first contact.

Case recording

All case notes will be recorded on Locata as journal notes. We will use an Excel spreadsheet for case management and reporting purposes.

Support

The service aims to assist households with finding privately-rented accommodation. This work may include (but is not limited to):

As part of the wider work of the Housing Advice Service, we will seek to develop and maintain relationships with prospective landlords and lettings agents, making them aware of the advantages of working with our prospective tenants and promoting the Access Scheme, HB+ and HB Family+.

Outcomes

We will provide regular updates regarding:
