Negotiating a planned move

Background

If a parent or friend has asked an applicant to move on, they can sometimes be persuaded to delay until suitable alternative accommodation can be found, to prevent the applicant becoming roofless. If this cannot be achieved during an interview or 'phone call, a Home Visit can be arranged.

Private landlords may be persuaded to defer an eviction date, as it may also save them the costs of bailiffs.

Consider Housing Options

Carefully consider the Housing Options that are available, including private rental, and whether the applicant's Home-Link banding has been maximised (when the Council is carrying out positive prevention work with an applicant, the Housing Advisor may award a Band B (Homeless Prevention).

If a woman over 21 is being asked to move because of pregnancy, consider the Harvey Rd scheme waiting list.
